Saturday our Hartselle streets downtown will be filled with smiling happy people. Depot Day Festival will be here! In the 1970's I think it was called Mule Days.
So many fun things to do. You have an early morning race, you have a car show, you have fun kids activities & the vendors. It was one thing that our family did when our kids were little. So many great memories. Oh they loved the little train they got to ride in the kid area. They had to ride all the rides and play all the games and of course the pony rides. They loved it so much and we share the Facebook memories every year.
Its one thing to be a customer at depot day its another to be an owner of a business. This will be our 3rd year as a business in downtown Hartselle. We are so excited to see everyone come downtown. Do you ever just sit and watch all the excitement? I would like to encourage you to take your time and enjoy yourselves soak up the memories with your children. Sit on one of our many benches or find a place to sit and just watch all the hustle and bustle.
We would like to also encourage you to go into the shops in downtown Hartselle. We have so many shops that need extra love this year due to the trying times. Please come and support them if you can. Of course we want you to enjoy the vendors as well, but please come support the downtown business if you can.
As I learned with my first experience with depot day 3 years ago, there is a lot of figurative bumps and bruises that comes with having a festival downtown. Expect the unexpected. Know that if it rains your going to get wet for example. This is a perfect opportunity to go into the shops to browse and find shelter. Roll with whatever happens and turn the negative in to a positive. Maybe after browsing, play in the rain with your kids. Take that moment to slow down and enjoy Depot Day.
Be kind. Be patient. Be brave. Don't forget to Sparkle!
